The trip to orlando was good. I gave 2 presentations which seemed to go over well. Last week was a little crazy b/t grant writing & building presentations. I ended up staying up until 1am Friday & then getting up at 4:30 am that same day to finish one of the presentations. A good presentation takes a HUGE time investment the first few times you giveit... they were not as good as I'd like, but they were good enough.
The drive back from Orlando was fun! It was warm & sunny, so I kept the sun roof open & windows down the entire way. A nice road trip complete with music is a great way to disconnect from daily life. The trip from Miami to Orlando is about 3.5 hours for me. Just enough of a drive, but not too much.
Finally, I think I'm officially a Florida resident. While in Orlando I had my dad change the tags on my car. So now I'm sporting sunshine state tags!! I picked up my driver's license in december, and my parking permits in Feb. Yeah... I know... slacker.... I've been here over a year... But it is done now! All that is left is to get a special sunpass so I don't have to pay tolls.. And I gotta tell you, not stopping to pay tolls is a BEAUTIFUL thing..
And the bike... I've got a bike... Actually what I have is a commitment for a bike, I just have to go get it.....in Michigan.... But no worries! I think I'm going to fly up early may to pick it up. It is actually cheaper for me to fly up & escort it back than to ship it... so I'm going to michigan. The loan is courtesy of a rugby friend who is involved w/a group in michigan who has several hand cycles. I was telling him about my new "adventure" and how I needed a bike... He jumped right in and said they totally could loan me one, I'd just have to come get it! See, I told you I wasn't worried. Anyways, I might compete in a 25k while I'm picking up the bike. So tomorrow I'm calling my local contact to see if I can use his bike until may. I'm sure he'll say yes.. I think I'll keep the bike at work. we have rollers there I can put the wheel on so I can exercise inside. Otherwise I might see if my friend seth would store the bike... But if I do that I can't use it everyday... we'll see.. it'll figure itself out. it always does.
In other news, I'm beat... as soon as it gets dark I'm going to bed.. I didn't want to get to bed last night, so I stayed up late... and now I'm exhausted.. but I did want to tell you about my bike!!
p.s. I was in need of warm comfort, curl up in the corner food, so I made oatmeal w/cinnamon & brown sugar for dinner... yummy.... food coma in effect!

Glad you had a good trip. Breakfast for supper - yummy. Myself and the boys do it quite often!
sounds like another great adventure for you!
an we both know how much I love adventures!
breakfast for dinner is one of my favorites!
This is a very cool goal at multiple levels. Given the poor state of the economy, your timing is great as well. I will be sure to check your blog for updates.
