Have you everv wondered......

Have you ever wondered how good you could be? How far you could go? What your absolute best would look like? What the limit of your “potential” is? What you could achieve if you pushed yourself?

What holds you back from testing your limits, from chasing your best? I think most of us have at least one area of our life where questions linger, where we don’t think we’ve fulfilled our potential….where we feel we could be truly “great”, where our innate capabilities are greater than average/typical….

Sometimes we allow life to get in the way of maximizing our potential in these areas.. Or perhaps you have tons of potential in an area for which you have no passion, no motivation… That’s fine, you should chase your passion, your interests…. But I rather think our greatest aptitudes can be/are tied to our greatest passion..

For me, one area where I’ve always wondered what my “best” would look lies inside my physical abilities…. What am I capable of when my body is as strong as it could be? What does my fitness level look like when I’ve “maxed” out the potential of my body to train? Ever since my accident I’ve wondered about this….

If you know me, you know I love to compete and hate losing…What you may not know is the competition is mainly internal… I use “competition” to help propel myself to a higher level of skill or fitness… I don’t particularly care about “beating” you, but do care about performing my best. Competition serves as a measurement of where I stand & allows me to define where I want to go.

And so this ride, this fundraising ride provides an opportunity to take my fitness/conditioning to a new level. I couldn’t commit to the necessary training unless there was a higher reason. Raising money to help others provides the reason, the drive. I might skip a workout if I’m just working out for myself, but I cannot let my supporters down. I think of you when tired or grouchy, when the training sucks, when I’d rather be asleep or working on a project…. Because of your support, all those “reasons” become insignificant.

So thanks for your support…… It not only helps CAF, but it helps me explored the boundaries of physical abilities. I’ve already succeeded, the only question which remains is what the final degree of success will look like..
