Great Question!!! Easy Answer......
Because the ride is limited to 100 participants and each participant has to raise AT LEAST $10,000 to participate in the ride....
100 people x $10,000 = $1,000,000.00
I like easy math...
I know, I know.... If it takes $10,000 to ride, WHY is my goal $62,000.00?
Because while the prospect of raising 10,000 was intimidating, I really wanted to do this ride. So I called Kristine @ CAF (Hi Kristine!!) and asked her what the highest amount any single rider had raised...She told me $50,000.00. So being the person that I am, I decided that my goal was to top that, to set the bar higher.... and in chasing a goal like that I'd easily reach $10,000. I told you I like to compete.
But why $62,000.00?
I told you, I like easy math. The ride is 620 miles long, so if I raise $100.00 per mile...
620 miles x $100 per mile = $62,000.00
On a more serious note, the money goes to an excellent charity which has helped so many people. ALL the money raised goes to CAF, no matter if I reach my goal...
One more person will get a hand cycle, or sports chair, or running prosthetic because of your support..... One more person gets the opportunity to compete again because of your support...I get to participate in the ride of a lifetime because of your support...
I'm committed... I had to put down a $1,000.00 deposit to secure my spot, to get the chance to raise this money, to train for the next 8 months... I had to ask for help on that deposit....
My wonderful, wonderful parents made the deposit for me..... mom thought I was nuts to set the bar that high, dad thought it was possible... (I love you mom!)
What do you think? Will you help?
