Hunting for a bike

Yes, I did sign up for a 620 mile bike ride without owning a bike.

I thought finding one would be a part of the fun... I've put a few calls in & have a few people helping look, but no bike yet.

Saturday was a bit of a snipe hunt for the local Achilles Track Club. According to their website they practice every Saturday in Aventura, Fl. I called the contact person & left a message a week or so ago... no response. I called him saturday morning & left a message saying I was coming to practice & hoped I'd find them.

I drive up to Aventura, figure out where the logical place for practice was.. logical b/c google maps places the practice address where there isn't a place to stage bikes or exercise... however, there is a place on the other side of the highway..It's a 2.5 mile long exercise trail . It was quite nice & by 10am saturday morning it was busy. I drove around it for ~40 minutes, hoping to catch a glimpse of a chair or handcycle... nothing.... nothing... and the contact dude hasn't called me back... time to move on to the next path to getting a bike..

Saturday was a beautiful day... a good day to be on a snipe hunt, so not all was lost. I holed up in a starbucks down the road, grabbed a coffee & worked on my grant a bit..

I have been offered the use of one by another quad, but he thinks the set-up is wrong & I won't be able to steer or brake... I'll give him a call after I get back from orlando & we'll see if it works!
