So the bike has a new tube/tire.. By the looks of the old tube/tire, it was a pretty violent explosion. I'll have to post a few pictures.. I've never seen anything like it & neither has anyone else. At this point my family is probably laughing because the phrase 'I've never seen that happen before..' has frequently been heard after I break something or after something I use breaks. My dad jokes I should be a beta tester. I've got a knack for breaking stuff in new and unheard of ways/places. Par for the course
Anyways, the wheel is back on the bike & the bike is back on rollers. I just spent 2 hours rigging a new set-up. I wasn't planning on doing that today, but it had been improperly set-up yesterday & was unusable.. i.e. it wouldn't roll. A problem that had to be corrected if I was going to bike today. To reach the set-up problem I had to move the rollers & by moving the rollers I couldn't use my previous set-up. So 2 hours to rig a new one. Today's 2 goals are to get a good ride in & watch the Preakness.
Speaking of the Preakness, there's a filly by the name of Rachel Alexander racing. Apparently she is one of the best 3 year olds this year, colt or filly. She was just purchased for a health 7 figure sum. Be sure to catch the race later today, post time is 6:15pm.
I digress.. the new set-up is more difficult than the previous, so I might need to check my ego when riding. I'll have to settle for a lower speed & trust it translates to a decent speed on the road. Seth is helping me again tomorrow. We are going to take the bike off the rollers & into the parking deck next door. Plenty of room to practice, safe, covered from sun/rain.... Cross your fingers that our new brake rig works. After we grow tired of that or at least establish it will/will not work, we are heading down to Qdoba. I love Qdoba... It is a burrito joint, but these are GIANT burritos..Seth has not been to a Qdoba, so I get to introduce him to the yum that it is.
I'm actually coming in tomorrow morning to ride before seth & I take the bike out. I think taking the last week off was a great idea. I feel good, but I'm itching to get going again. By the end of the week I was a bit crabby since I hadn't exercised all week.
Oh & it looks like the rainy season is about to start. Thunderstorms most everyday, steamy, hazy, hot... I love it.. seriously, I must have a tropical soul.
