about my rides this weekend! This past weekend the san diego group did their back to back centuries. I'm bit off schedule & had to switch my turn at the back to back centuries to this weekend.
And best of all... I just had a great ride today. Nada blood pressure problems... the first time in many weeks. To be honest, it was getting where I dreaded getting on the bike for short rides because I just felt so horrible the first hour. But today, today was a very good day. I had my resistance up to my new 'flat terrain' level & was averaging a good 14-15 mph, with a few miles in at a 16 mph average. I'm almost back up to my 17.5 mph average I pulled off for the second 80 mile sunday ride we did way back in July.
My weekend rides this past weekend went well. 3 hours saturday & a 40 on sunday. I had the resistance higher today & I felt better today & went faster than I did this weekend! Looks like the quad body is getting a clue... either that or my flu shot/chicken tender/french fries/2 days of rest weekend should become a ritual of sorts!
I'm not a big bread/grain/pasta/potato eater, but I had more than normal this weekend & my sodium intake was higher than normal (mmmm hot dog & fries...). I've got a bit more leg edema than normal, which only happens when I'm eating more sodium, usually through processed foods. A while I don't like having fat feet & ankles.... just for this ride... it might be a fair trade to keep my bp up. We shall see.
All signs point to a very good ride this weekend... I think I'm gonna rock these miles. Ya'll didn't think I'd actually stay bummed out? did you?
Its a good weekend for this ride. I've got a work trip to Dallas wed thru Sat, so that will be an enforced rest. I booked a flight back sat ONLY because I wanted to get my sunday training ride in. I'll be running from my presentation to catch a flight in & will probably get back to my apt around midnight. BUT... I always come back better & stronger from a 4-5 day lay off, at least I have the last 2 times I had to travel during this training.
