Actually, this is the second occurrence...... but it's much larger.. And I'm sure it isn't the last..
When I train on the ube, I stay in my wheelchair & just pull up to it. Because I've been over heating, I've been working out in my sports bra..... which leaves nothing between my back & my backrest.....And the fabric on my backrest is rough.... and there's a bunch of trunk movement while using the ube...
Which is why there is a 5 x 4 inch and a 3 x 2 inch area of road rash, strawberry, raspberry, wheelburn, etc... Whatever your favorite term is.... I've got it. It doesn't hurt at all, which is part of the reason it happened
First thought was "crap, how am I going to train w/ that on my back?" I have to keep it from getting worse.... Second thought was.... "how am I going to bandage THAT?"... Issues were A)finding something big enough to cover the spots and B)putting the bandage on by myself.
Problem A was solved by supplies left over from a pressure sore in 2007.... Prepackaged gauze bordered w/tape & something similar but w/a foam backing & much larger... These are much better ideas than me trying to handle tape & gauze independently.
Problem B solution was much more amusing.. Thank goodness I have a full length mirror & am flexible. However, navigating sticky bandages w/quad hands onto very specific locations on you lower back while leaning all the way over, but trying to keep everything in view in the mirror, and getting it right on the first try..... was funny to say the least.... but I did it..
Checking the bandages this morning revealed that the foamy bandage wasn't sticking very well. A few strips of hypofix reattached that bad boy.. Hypofix is like duct tape for your body.... And can be just as hard to remove as well.
I'm pleased to say the bandages stayed in place during training today... I wore my shirt & will be wearing one always until I get a non-chafing cover for my backrest...
